Mrs Top Confirmed booking - that morning. We arrived at 1900 (booking time). We waited 5 minutes before seeing the manager. Very, very crowded. We were fobbed off. After another 5 minutes I asked what was the problem.

We were told that they had overbooked (we think that this was the problem - however it was very difficult to understand the chap) and if we waited they would fix the problem. We waited a total of 35 minutes before we were told that a table could be set up in the service corridor or just inside the front entrance.

The restaurant was so crowded that I could not envisage a sardine being squeezed in let alone a table for two.

It was perceived by my wife and I - that they would really like us to leave so that the problem would go away. We obliged as we were not confident of receiving any level of satisfactory service. We were treated with little respect and felt that management was rude and uncommunicative.

A really great (not) experience on my wife's 63rd birthday. A seated table of four people was asked to leave and another couple also. Whether they were booked I do not know. Mrs Top is definitely not on the top of our list of preferred restaurants. A date and dinner, in hell, would be preferable.   (MidnightRider - See my reviews (2) - January, 2011)

· Charming neighborhood landmark

This is one of my favorite places around. Excellent food, friendly people, cozy atmosphere. One of the things that makes this neighborhood a neighborhood, not a big, corporate block. There are always regulars in there chatting it up with the staff and everyone always seems to be in a good mood. The food is never ‘ok’ or ‘good’. · Excellent dining experience

I love this restaurant. It offers beautiful French food, but not heavily sauced, or overloaded with butter. The service is attentive. It's an adult experience and I've been back many times. It definitely worth the visit whether you're with friends or on a date. The food is superb. The Roasted Duck was fantastic and Coquilles St Jacque appetizer was also very good. This was our second visit to Mrs Top in Neutral Bay, on a slightly damp Friday evening in early June 2009. My wife and I took 4 friends and even though our previous visit was nearly a year ago we were recognised and welcomed like old friends by the Maitre d’. The restaurant is traditional, warm, welcoming and comfortable.

We opted for the 3 course Menu @ $62. It was explained to us that we could choose any combination from the a la carte menu to create our own 3 course Menu.

We were waited on discreetly yet shown great attention when it was required. The food was a beautifully presented work of art, tasted amazing and was delivered with the correct timing for a leisurely dinner with friends.

Recommends from our meal are: Salade de Crevettes à Mary Rose - was a delight. Rabbit in grain mustard wine sauce was a great hit too. Lovely texture and flavour. King Island fillet steak was also enjoyed by one of our guests.The aromas were tempting.

Selecting wine with the expert guidance of the waiter was a pleasure. His knowledge was extensive about taste and texture and location. The desserts were out of this world - presentation made it all the more desirable. Coffee served with a supply of delicious chocolates brought our meal to a successful end.

Would we return to this lovely intimate French Restaurant, we have already booked!   (elizadoolittle - August, 2009)
