great food and the service was impeccable but there were quite a few mosquitoes in the downstairs bar as well as in the restaurant itself.   (mariad - See my reviews (3) - December, 2010)

A very disappointing experience. The oysters Kilpatrick were in BBQ sauce! You can't change a classic like that and still keep its usual title. One oyster also had a piece of glass in it the size of a small pea! My order for confit of duck was delivered - as breast of duck! I had to wave like a person drowning to get some attention as we had been put in a tiny corridor-like area at the end of the room along the window. Apparently the waiter did not know there were two duck dishes on the menu. The manager promised to give us free desserts and coffee to make up for the mistake. By the time my correct main was delivered my husband had eaten two courses - I was only planning to have a main, so I was starving. My confit was to be with white beans, bacon and spicy sausage - sounded like cassoulet to me - so that's what I was expecting. Well the confit was barely cooked, the beans were hard, and the sausage was almost non-existent. But the horror of it all was that it was swimming in - you guessed it - BBQ sauce! This should have been explained on the menu and then I wouldn't have ordered it. It was excessively salty and unpleasant - but I couldn't send this one back too. I couldn't finish it, so I was now looking forward to dessert. We both ordered rhubarb and berry crumble with King Island cream. The presentation was cute - and tiny. Two small pots the size of a dessert spoon had a compote of fruit masked with custard, while the third pot had a runny, creamy sustance sprinkled with pistachio nuts - certainly not the thick cream I was expecting. There were two pieces of hard pistachio biscuit on the side. Nowhere was the crumble mentioned on the menu. But it was a freebie, so what can you do. It doesn't stop the disappointment though - what goes on the menu should go on the plate and vice versa. I think the chef should read his menu and revise the wording or the cooking. Our party was seeking an evening of fine dining and selected Parkside looking forward to a 5 star experience. The food was lovely and the service probably as good as possible given the distracting ambiance. The number of patrons attending the bar far exceed its' capacity and the overflow gathered at the entrance to the restaurant. With no physical barrier in place, the restaurant ambience was that of a pub. Waiters were unable to hear our requests and several of our orders were missed as a result. In order to converse at the table we resorted to shouting at each other. We will not be returning to Parkside.   (See my reviews (3) - September, 2008)

Experience overall was good. some staffs are well trained but a few were not really familiar with their services yet. Environment was romantic but was quickly destroyed by two families with noisy kids on my both sides. Food came in time but one of our dessert was delayed for some reasons. Maybe they ran out of chocolate icecream.

I ordered a steak and my girlfriend ordered a barramundi. my steak with red wine sauce was excellent. nothing to complain about. But the barramundi was too little and too plain. It has a prawn with a big head, but little meat. dessert was average.

but overall was good and i got a 20% discount, but even so, my bill was still over $100 for a 2course dinner for two.   (See my reviews (3) - July, 2008)

Decor was outdated, and unless you like spending your romantic evening meal with business single men and much older couples would not recommend it, especially given the vast number of alternatives in the city.   (See my reviews (3) - March, 2008)

A very enjoyable evening, in a quite, elegant hotel resturant.

Service was excelent, which maybe due to the fact that the resturant was very quiet for a Saturday evening (it was the night of Mardi Gras). I will return   (See my reviews (3) - March, 2008)

Service was appauling. We waited 45 mins for our dinner. The restaurant had 8 tables 6 of couples 2 single table, 3 floor staff. We were never ask for a re fill on our drinks. We left after 1/5 hours to continue our evening else where. The food was enjoyable and if the service was better on that night we would have stayed longer. Our recommendation would be for staff training to be put in place.   (See my reviews (3) - February, 2008)

A so-so night out. As guests of the hotel we thought a night in after a long day would be ideal. I was less than impressed. Whilst not terrible, our food was no more than average. Our garlic bread arrived, without garlic. The ravioli was a few steps past being 'al dente'. The $35 lamb rack was tasty but a little tough and overcooked. Desserts were nothing to write home about. The wine list however was reasonable. All in all, a nice atmosphere with high prices and slow service. Two courses (and no coffee) took over two hours to be served to us. I wouldn't recommend this when there are plent of better, cheaper and tastier restaurants within a few monutes walk.   (Parkside Review - See my reviews (3) - January, 2008)

Outstanding service that is hard to find in the CBD. Impeccable yet warm and friendly without the pretentiousness of the majority of high end restaurants. Beautiful setting with the traditional feel of fine dining. It was a perfect location for my anniversary celebration.   (Jon - See my reviews (3) - June, 2007)
