About Patee Thai - Prahran

Patee Thai Restaurant is the longest established Thai Restaurant in Melbourne. The first Patee Thai was set up by Mr Patee on the 7th April 1983. It was originally located at 371 Brunswick Street, Fitzroy and was later sold to TKC IMPORTS P/L in 1986. Since then, Patee Thai has expanded to four locations and recently downsized to two.

Patee Thai is closely involved with entertainment venues such as Revolver Upstairs (Chapel St. Prahran), Koo Koo (Swanston St. Melbourne), and Spy Bar (Clarendon St, South Melbourne). Patee Thai also has an international presence with restaurants in both Bangkok and London.

Presenting authentic Thai cuisine in the ambience and atmosphere of an ancient Thai Palace has been Patee Thai’s trade mark, setting the trend for most Thai restaurants to follow in Melbourne. Not to mention that at least 20% of current Thai restaurant operators were once employed by Patee Thai and contributed to its growth.

    An hour late. This is even later than usual and was on top of a 75 minute head start (submitted before opening time). My order contained CHICKEN and duck! It was lukewarm at best on arrival.

    The order was incorrect. Hot instead of Mild (for the one dish it actually mattered).

    Items ordered and paid for were missing. The free entree was also missing, although when queried on the delay I was told it and the missing free entry from the previous order were there this time.

    I have spoken to the restaurant about this and the manager has called back to accept my feedback but I will not be ordering from Patee Thai ever again.

    Quality is always excellent as are delivery times.

    Quantity however has diminished. The Prawn calamari dish now only has 3 prawns.

    Lamb Massaman curry!! I order this dish every time I order from Patee Thai and it is my fav thai dish I have had in Melbourne.

    Bit of a delay with food, had to call and they couldnt find order in system. But they were very friendly and found it after a little while. Was not in a hurry for it so all good.     Waited 2 hours for delivery! Called the store and was told it was on the way. 40 minutes later, called back was told the driver got lost ( I live less than 5 minutes drive) Food was good- Tom Yum soup needed a bit more kick but the Pad thai was great!   (Alana - January, 2013)

    Of all the times i have ordered, my delivery waiting time has always been just over an hour. the satay chicken entree is very good as it the chicken fried rice. i was not happy with salads that we ordered... the portions were small for value. the gangal soup is another dish that is made very well here... overall, food was delivered hot , but it did take its time to arrive, i a do not live more than a 5 mins drive away. on times the roti bread was hard and stale and others is was perfect.. needs to improve on consistency.   (Helen - See my reviews (2) - January, 2013)

    Food: SUPER salty and the spiciest MILD I've ever had.

    Value: Expensive for what the sizes are.

    Absolutely rubbish service. Waited two hours for delivery on a Sunday night. Called up after an hour and a half to be told that the order had not been cooked yet and I would have to wait for another hour for my food. Easily the worst service I have ever received.   (Lauren - January, 2013)

    It did come in just over an hour which is what was promised, but I felt even that was a bit much for what we ordered.

    The serve sizes were extremely small. Got the beef salad - I'd say the container was 1/4 full. It wasn't really a salad either - 1 lettuce leaf. I realise it's not east to keep the beef warm in a salad but it was pretty much stone cold.   (William - January, 2013)
