As others have said the sevice is excellent.

The staff here at work enjoy Paul's as a lunch time treat on a regular basis and would do so more often but for the cost. We can get Thai from a local restaurant for considerably less. They get our custom several times a week due to the value.

I'm not normally a banquet person as I'm a bit picky with my food and am usually left hungry at the end but Paul's banquets are great value and the sheer amount of food will leave everyone full to the brim. We even had left overs for some to take home.

I agree with the amout of oil used in some dishes and often tip it out before I start my meal. It can at times cover the entire bag of takeaway if the oily dish is placed on top of your bag of dishes.

This can be a little annoying when you have to wipe all of the containers down before enjoying your lunch.

Overall though, an enjoyable experience either as a sit in resaurant or as a takeaway meal for lunch.   (Pauls - Nice but exy - March, 2011)

Crazy time of year. I left things to the last minute. The restaurant was booked out. But I was happy to go on a wait list. Paul personally phoned me to squeeze me in.

As expected awesome meal. (I get take away all the time.)

Always an incredible dining experience. I have read some ordinary reviews about Pauls on here and would have to say they are coming from his competition. Paul cant do enough to keep his customers happy and the staff are extremely efficient. And then of course,there is the food!! I would just like to say to the people who are complaining about the food and the prices of it.

If you are saying you have had better chinease in newcastle you obviously do not have any taste buds, and if you are saying that it was exspensive you defentally are a cheapskate, I have paid more for some really horrible chinease.

I am saying to pauls asian affair....

The food is wonderfull, price is great, ambience is great, the service is quick and efficient.....

Normally a wonderful experience. Last Friday night though, the food flavour was bland. We had to add chilli ourselves. It seemed like the chef was away. All the usual flavours that thrill us were absent. The ambience is noisy and busy. Thats fine if the food is exciting. This time it wasnt. I have heard people rave about this restaurant so decided to try take-away on my way home from work. The dishes are very expensive and I wouldn't mind if the food was nice, but it was very average. I ordered Sate Chicken ($15.50), Chicken with Cashews( $15.50), Mongolian Lamb ($17.00) and a large fried rice ($7.50). All dishes were swimming in oil. The nicest was the Sate Chicken, the chicken with cashews was passable, the Mongolian Lamb was downright awful and the fried rice, well what can I say but it had very little in it and was bland. I simply can't see why people rave over this restaurant, it is far too expensive for very ordinary food. There are plenty of nicer and better value places to eat Chinese in Newcastle.   (mrsnrub - March, 2010)

As usual, my most recent Paul's experience was excellent . I recommend it to many people and often suggest it for larger groups. Their banquets are stomach bogglingly good and excellent value. I challenge anyone to leave the table hungry.   (terry - October, 2009)

By far my favourite restaurant! My family and I used to dine at Paul's smaller restaurant many years ago. I have since moved to Sydney and always travel back to Newcastle to eat at Paul's for many occasions. I think I must have eaten at Paul's restaurant at least 100 times in my life. I love the food, the decor and Paul himself. He is a regular on the restaurant floor and always remembers his customers. Our first visit to Pauls was a great experience, however, 3 subsequent visits have not been as good. On 2 separate occassions we have had hair in our food & I found for basic food it is also quite expensive & the chicken dishes are the same - just with a different sauce.   (See my reviews (4) - December, 2008)

I had been looking forward to a great meal as it had come highly recommended. The first time we ate at Pauls the food was delicious however the second, third and fourth times were terrible (we only went back because it was so nice the first time). We had hair in our food (on two separate occasions) and the spring rolls we ordered tasted like poison. The menu appears extensive however most of the chicken dishes are the same just with a different sauce. Very much over priced for 'take-away' style food.   (December, 2008)

The first time we went here the food was great - so good infact that after one bad experience we went back... BUT on more than one occasion we have had hair in our food, spring-rolls that tasted like poison & were not edible. It was not a pleasant experience. A wonderful night had by the six of us. Attendant waitresses at all times. Enormous meals that we couldn't finish, but goodness we gave it a good try!
