Good location, nice views. I have never been to a restaurant where the food has been so uninspiring and tasteless. The salad bar was barely fresh and there were flies landing on the seafood. The selection of "gourtmet meats" included sliced up ham. Dessert Bar was really shameful considering it was a supposed fine dining experience with choices including red jelly and a cake selection that looked like it had been bought from the local Coles Supermarket. Extremely disappointed. Staff were polite and quck to remove empty plates. The restaurant looked like it was in need of redecorating with parts of the ceiling discoloured and falling down. Decor just looked old and tired. For such a great location and part of a five star hotel complex I really expected a lot more. I would suggest a visit to Sizzler if you want value for money, freshness and more variety.   (LH - February, 2008)

We visited Pines today (8/9/07) when it was, probably, exceptionally crowded and arranged with just adequate space between rows of tables.Food choices and quality were very good buffet style offerings, and service probably a bit below their norm because of crowding.I enjoyed the curry(?) flavour in the soup, in the whole seed mustard, and in the curry itself, but formed the impression that the same spices predominated all three of those items."Music" over tha PA system at one stage was somewhat discordant, although I did notice it for the hours or so before then.The general buzz of conversation soon took my mind of the "music", so all was well.AND the view overlooking Scarborough Beach on a wonderful sunny afternoon, with gentle surf along the beach line, was a perfect back-drop for a more than adequate buffet and carvery establishment.   (jandu - See my reviews (2) - September, 2007)
