It was great experience to dine in Poppies on canterbury. the ambience was great. excellent service and delicate food. my favourite is oyster champane, i have never ever try this oyster before, it is just delicious. pork belly always cooked crispy and mouth watering. chocolate soffle was exquisite and gorgeous. we must be back soon!!!   (susie - See my reviews (2) - November, 2010)

I visited this restaurant last Friday, for the first time, and there will be no second time. The food was very ordinary, extremely over-priced, and there was a very limited selection from entrees through to desserts. I ordered the honey lamb, which was over-cooked, and also the vegetables were tasteless, and seemed to have been boiled to within an inch of their life ! Very disappointing.

I, and my friends, will definitely not be returning, as their impression of this restaurant was the same as my own.   (See my reviews (4) - September, 2010)

The food is exquisite, one of my favorite restaurants. Not too pricey for the top quality food they serve.

The ambience is lovely, nice and quiet.

Service is great.

The pork is mouth watering, always cooked perfectly.

What a great little gem of a restaurant hidden away in the suburbs,

Service was excellent! a staff member was always available and at hand if you had a question or a query and they know a lot about the dishes the restaurant serves, Food came out quite quickly and promptly as did the drinks menu's etc,

A warm restaurant and very comfortable to dine in.

Food was beautiful, The steak was melt in your mouth and the oysters were to die for.

Desserts were exquisite, My wife and i had the Chocolate souffle and the lemon tart, both were fresh and tastefully delightful.

And to finish off the night, I Enjoyed one of the nicest coffee's of my time, which also came out promptly after requested.

This is an unpretensious restaurant with some of the best food in the suburbs! Surroundings and outlook are not posh, but the service is friendly, with lots of choice in the food an always a hot souffle on offer for dessert, which is hard to find. Excellent value for money - highly recommended! Try the pork fillet with a honey-chilli glaze and chinese greens, or the individual steak and kidney pie. It's a great place to go when people have different tastes, because there is something for everyone on that menu.   (Julie Houghton - November, 2008)
