Excellent service!!! I've struggled to find a formal Chinese restaurant that understands how to cater for gluten free meal requests. Red Emperor's waiters were all well trained to cater for this and they made sure that ordering and eating was as simple and easy as possible which saves for any embarrassing explanations for allergies. All staff were very attentive and we never had to ask for more tea. Food was reasonably good but window views of the city skyline and great service was the winning factors.   (Susanna Chan - February, 2012)

Just had the mothers day set menu, all of the food was stale and barely warm, value for money wise for a 50 dollar per head set menu this place was terrible.

Went there last year and it was good, went there yesterday and it was 10 times worse earning it a rating of 0 for yesterdays set menu service, would not recommend unless you can order what you like in regular yum cha service   (See my reviews (2) - May, 2010)

Good food and fast pre-theatre service. However the "bistro" area of the Red Emperor is not very appealing; we were pestered by fruit-flies during dinner (this is INSIDE Southgate!) and there were soil marks and splashes on the wall next to us. Fine Dinning Yum Cha Restautant, but food out of the standard; I went there for Yum Chan last Sat. Dim sum always over steamed, Deep Fire Prawn roll is cold. Very Disappointed!!   (Kevin - See my reviews (2) - September, 2008)

We had the pre-theatre menu and frankly it was middle of the road. The service and atmosphere were great but the food was not at all what we expected. The cashew chicken was bland and uninspiring. As for the lamb, since when do the Chinese eat lamb? the Scheswan was barley spicy. We have eaten in China as well had "Chinese food" all over the world, and have not had a decent Chinese meal since moving to Austrlaia two years ago. Frankly, this country needs to stop "adjusting things for the Austrlalian palate" ! You are missing out on great Chinese food this way!   (February, 2008)
