    The Shire café is Fitroy’s “off the beaten track” restaurant + café. Situated on the ground floor of the funky, award winning Abito building, the shire offers a relaxed and intimate café atmosphere. The Shire has been created to provide a special place for people to eat, drink, work, celebrate, plan, chill and relax.

    The Shire is warm, organic, earthy and has obvious character. It is the sort of place that people simply love to be, and we have attracted an ever-expanding group of dedicated, regular customers.

      Thought I'd try the Shire Cafe on recommendation and so glad I did. Some reservation existed around the facility of the place based on the "cafe" misnomer. Sure it probably operates nicely as a cafe for passing traffic latte's and 'cino, but it excels as a restaurant in fact.

      Beautifully prepared and presented food, an interesting and varied menu and fantastic prices made for an extremely enjoyable dining experience.

      Friendly service, great inner suburban feel with large glass windows allowing an uninterrupted view of the street scape and passing parade of uber coolness.

      We had a great time and recommend the Shire Cafe.   (October, 2010)

      I found Shire quite by accident when I was looking for somewhere relaxed and comfortable to meet a friend. The service was fabulous as was the food and the decor is comfortable and inviting. It was also nice and quiet so that normal conversation was possible. If privacy is high on your priority listing then this is the place for you. Yeah, it's the sun shining in through the windows, and all the above that is great. It's a place that I will be frequenting when I come into the city. Need to work through the menu :)
