Are you among the many becoming conscious of what you eat, or what you must avoid eating, for your health? If so then congratulations! You're a NexGenEater! We booked, arrived and found, on a Saturday night, an empty, dark room with unset tables. We sat down thinking that 7.30 must be a little early for Komatsu's patrons. We ordered a beer. The waiter took the order and then told us that the beer will have to be drunk straight out of the bottle. My husband refused; drinking beer from a bottle did not agree with him. He asked for a glass. The waiter refused the glass and explained that it may not be washed sufficiently well after use to remove all gluten from its walls and this restaurant caters for coeliacs. I suggested that perhaps non-coeliac customers could have their beer in glasses while the others could drink it out of the bottles or a plastic cups, which the waiter had offered as an alternative. That's when the manager appeared, confirmed Komatsu's policy and asked us to leave if we didn't like it. We left. When we were driving past Komatsu 2 hours later, after a good meal in a cheerful restaurant near by, we noticed that it appeared as dark and empty as when we were there. We knew why.   (October, 2009)

Dreadful place...would not serve me a beer in a glass...claimed they could not wash to remove gluten and after we politely queried their reasoning (and I also said I never drink straight from a bottle and gave my health reasons) the manager/owner (?) asked my wife and I to leave.

Decor dreadful.no table settings and no other customers at 7.30 on Sat night......felt and looked like a morgue.

We went rapidly and were glad to get out of the unwelcoming uncomfortable place.

Gave lowest food and value ratings as well on principal.

Just the perfect place to go... and my friend being coeliac, its hard for myself to find a nice place where she can eat there, where this place was completely gluten free. You could even get a gluten free beer which I even liked... I advise you book straight up coeliac or non coeliac... its worth it...   (anthony p - August, 2008)
