The Balcony Bar & Restaurant

We often spend the afternoon relaxing on the Balcony when we visit Byron bay, the tapas menu is perfect for nibbling the day away, but the wine list is my favorite and Real champagne by the glass. Gets very busy so we usually book a good spot looking over the streets of Byron. Its a must do venue while in Byron   (paulee - December, 2009)

Myself and my wife and friends went to the balcony for lunch on 3/05/09 and was breakfast was late and lunch will be ready to start for another half hour so we waited at 1220pm we ordered four coffees and waited half hour for our coffee we order our lunch forty five minutes later my wife ask about our lunch the waiter came back and told us it will another sixteen minutes so we got up and left but could leave before paid for four coffees which cost us twenty dollars all together we waited nearly one and half hours our lunch which we never got while we were waiting other meals were being serve and the waiters were avoiding us because we was not drinking beer   (food - May, 2009)

as a local Byronian, we eat at the Balcony every week- we love it and the people its the best   (August, 2008)

Fantastic food and great ambience as we'd heard about..... but the service we received was pretty bad; starters took about an hour to arrive, only after we enquired about them, and the excuse we were given was that we'd arrived at a busy time. Given the place, you'd think they'd be accustomed to this. We mainly got annoyed that people around us who'd arrived a lot later than us were served long before us (ie. 10mins after they arrived) Our waiter was very apologetic and gave us a free bottle of wine (we would've preferred free dessert, they were really yummy) but the attitude of the maitre'd was really slack, no apology, just a "shit happens" type shrug, blamed our waiter, and more or less implied that the food should make up for their mistake. That annoyed us even more! Basically the food was great so I would still recommend this place, with the view that our experience was a one-off (hopefully).   (June, 2008)

As always, it was a great experience however we were a little disappointed that we did not get the lounge that we had reserved (and received a confirmation email back saying that was fine) and ended up having to sit inside.   (February, 2008)
