"We recently had a farewell dinner at The Clarendon hotel brasserie and were pleasantly surprised. There was live music playing and a great atmosphere in the beer garden. The pub itself was busy but it didn’t feel overcrowded or like you were being rushed too quickly to eat and leave so they could sit the next table. I was quite surprised by how well they handled a big group booking on such a bus.."
"This hotel is one of a kind.Every time myself and friends go there we enjoy ourselves and have a great time. The staff smile at you every time you enter the building.. A dying art!!! There ever so helpful and will always make time for you.Our meals are always well presented and extremely tasty. I always recommend the Clarendon to anyone who asks "where is good to eat" in Newcastle." more reviews

This is a regular lunch and after-work drinks haunt for us, and many other city workers. Its smart, clean and friendly, with a real commitment to looking after its clientele. One of decreasing number of restaurants in Newcs that actually have well-trained hospitality workers. No real surprises in the food on offer, but it IS always served the right temperature and in good-sized portions. Love the pub atmosphere and cut-above 'pub fare' dining. Worth noting that these guys look after large groups really well! (The Sweet P - See my reviews (3) - May, 2010) Overall 8.8 - Food 8, Ambience 8, Value 10, Service 9
The Clarendon is my favourite place for a reliable lunch. I often go there with big tables of people and the service is generally very fast, even for 10 plus people, which is what you need for a lunch squeezed into a work day. The hot food is always well cooked and the salads show attention to detail. The value for money is excellent. I have never had a bad meal there. The Monday and Tuesday $12 meals are great value, huge servings and there is a large variety of meals to choose from. My partner found his pasta very tasty, but I just found my steak a little chewy. But they do offer gluten free sauces, which is great. Overall, very good. (September, 2008) |
