Reliability and consistency combined with quality and value have ensured that The Malaya has remained one of Sydney's most popular restaurants for more than forty years.The Malaya offers an extensive menu that includes a selection of original favourites and contemporary dishes that are rich in flavour and variety, with an extensive wine list that has been carefully selected to complement the menu.
The Malaya opened for business challenging the then conservative Australian palette with authentic spicey dishes based on traditional south east Asian cuisine.The Malaya over looks Darling Harbour at King Street Wharf offering water views within close proximity to the CBD.The Malaya's open plan layout makes the most of our harbourside location and enables us to coordinate the right environment for your function. We cater for groups from 14 through to 300 guests. Depending on the size of your event you may wish to book a table, a private area or exclusiveuse of the restaurant.

Good food and a nice view. Staff are friendly and the service is very quick. Szechuan Eggplant and Beef Rendang are a must have!

Large Groups Information
Group bookings of 14 people or more are required to pay a $25 per person deposit. Once paid, the deposit is redeemed from the final bill or can be refunded to the credit card from which it was paid on request. We encourage all reservations confirm in writing together with a deposit for the maximum number of guests that may attend as we will be unable to increase your reservation once we are fully booked.
All groups are required to order a set menu. Groups are welcome to order one of our set menus or else may create their own, please contact The Malaya for details.
All group bookings have until the morning of the reservation to confirm the final number of people attending, this ensures the correct number of set menu's are ordered for the table.
There is a 10% service charge added to the biil of any table for 50 people or more.
