If you ask anyone who has been to the pony club to describe their experience you will undoubtedly hear words like “eclectic”, “fun”, “stylish” or “unique”. From the service, to the food and certainly in regards to your surroundings we have tried to take the best of some old traditions and mixed them with the finest modern ideas.

‘Tapas’ is a Spanish food tradition synonymous with the bars and of Barcelona and San Sebastian . But because we like to share at The Pony Club, we have taken a modern interpretation of this tradition to create a unique dining experience that focuses on small tastes and shared dining. We are very passionate about our food and believe that while our tapas are not very traditional, they capture the spirit of this Spanish social ritual by offering a relaxed, social and communal way of dining.

At first glance, the chesterfield couches, wall mural and chandeliers make the pony club appear like a traditional gentlemen’s club but further investigation exposes the modern touches such as chic white leather dining chairs and mirrored walls and bars. The mix of old and new creates a space that is eclectic as well as beautiful, and makes us unique to Perth . We’ve tried to create a space that is both beautiful and relaxed at the same time and hope that you will find our restaurant a great place to celebrate or just ‘hang out’ on a Saturday night. We do!

In years gone by the best service was always accompanied by white gloves and starched linen but we think that modern dining should be relaxed and even fun. We strive to provide an exceptional level of service to our guests but in a way that is casual, friendly and maybe even a little cheeky. So while at first glance you might have trouble telling our wait-staff from some of our patrons don’t assume that just because we don’t look serious that we don’t take the standard of our service seriously. We hope that this approach will make you will feel like a VIP while also making you feel right at home.

My partner booked my surprise birthday party at the pony club, and what a surprise it turned out to be.

I had no idea of this private hidden gem of a dining space.

We were upstairs in the most elegant of spaces, with lighting and decor that is simply stunning. We also had the luxury of our own private lounge area and large balcony in which to play between courses.

The food and service here was outstanding. 36 of us had tapas banquet which featured 14 dishes that were brought to the table over several courses. Everything i tried was absolutely delicious. At first we thought we would leave hungry as the portions seemed small to start but as it went on it built up and most of us found we had to force the churros which was served at the end into space that wasn't really there.

I highly reccomend this place for anyone looking for great food and a good time.

Food Brilliant. Service fantastic.

One point off for value, only becuase wagyu beef a little light on.

Love the space and the tunes, but one point off for noise level. Understand though concrete floors tend to bounce.

Pony club your amazing!

Food was insanely delectable. In fact, as a fervent perth diner i would go as far to say it is the best perth has to offer.

We shared twelve tapas between the four of us. The high quality of produce was evident and the combination of flavours just sublime. The marinated octopus, oysters with shallots and ginger and seeded fennel bread provided a perfect introduction to the meal. We followed that with a scallops, baked mussels with crab, and figs with goats curd and jamon , hard to say which i enjoyed most. Pumpkin crepes with sage butter are to good for words, the meatballs deliciously moist and spicy and the combination of shaved fennel and apple compote with the pork belly absolutely perfect. I could go on and on...

The waitress looking after was very attentive and made some top suggestions when it came to ordering the food and wine. She also staggered our order perfectly, ensuring we had enough time to savour each and every dish and never left our wine water glasses empty and made.

The overall ambience and vibe was sensational and really contributed to this most pleasurable of dining experiences. Love the soft lighting, chandeliers and the large horse mural.

To finish all I can say is pony club keep doing what your doing. You certainly conquered all of my senses. (eatdrinkmanwoman - See my reviews (2) - February, 2009)

Food Tasted like Drum Tobacco (and that was one of the better dishes). Three of us ordered nine Tapas between us and a bottle of lower end west aussie white wine the bill was nearly $200. We left because we didn't want to give these hacks anymore of our hard earned. We then went up the street to a local wine bar and had a second dinner accompanied with a superior wine to wash the nasty taste we were left with out of our mouths... Also the staff need a lesson in service to say the least.

We may have caught them on a bad night but we were 3 out of 10 people in there...no excuse (February, 2009)

This place offered one of the best dining experiences i've had to date.

The waitstaff were very attentive and brought some personality to the table, which is always an added bonus.

Loved the food.

The baked figs, pumpkin crepes and abolone pies were the standouts for me but the three other dishes we sampled also didn't disappoint.

The winelist although not huge covered all bases and the cocktails are good to.

The food is not bad but is not good value for money. The tapas menu is very expensive considering the minute servings on the plates.

we were really disappointed in this resturant. the service was great initiallly however we soon realised that our waiter had too many tables and we were half through a bottle of wine before food was ordered. the food was very average. we found the food to be generally tasteless and unexciting and we went home starving even though we ordered far more than the waiter had recommended. overall our experience left us with not much to say. we wont be going back. Nice place but the food is outrageously expensive for what comes out on the plate. If you get invited there have a snack before you head out as you will be hungry afterwards. Heaps of other restaurants a long that strip in Beaufort street that represent far better value for money (See my reviews (4) - March, 2008)
