The Spice is different - double starched linen cloths, a rosebud on each table, an adequate wine list and the professional service all warranting the slightly higher prices on a menu which, extending to a century of dishes, contains many offerings not seen on Indian menus elsewhere around town.

The food was fantastic and good size portions and reasonably price, although I thought $5.00 for a light beer is a bit rich, I suggest BYO your wine.."

1. Haryali Kebab: Cottage cheese, potato, cashews, peas, marinated in exotic Indian spices and crisp fried

2. Paneer Pakora: Home made cottage cheese dipped in spicy chickpea batter and crisp fried

3. Paneer Tikka Masala: Indian cottage cheese, capsicum, onion, tomato, marinated with yogurt batter and baked in the tandoor

4. Borai Samosa: Mashed potato, peas and spices filled in a pyramid pastry and crisp fried served with mint gravy

5. Vegetable Pakora: Chopped onion, cauliflower, spinach, potato, mixed with aromatic spices and crisp fried in a light chickpea batter

6. Amaritsari Cashew Roll: Mashed potato and cashew mixed with ground Indian spices, herbs and served fried

7. Pani Puri: Puffed puri filled with chickpeas and potatoes served with sweet and sour tamarind water

8. Chat Papadi: Pastry topped with boiled potatoes and chickpeas with tamarind, mint and yogurt dressing

9. The Spice Platter: A selection of our very best vegetarian entrées

10. Soup of the day: A choice of traditional Indian soup, Mulligatawny, Tomato, Yakni (chicken) or Pumpkin

1. Murg Badami Kebab: Chicken fillets marinated in cream, yogurt, almond, fresh ginger & garlic, skewered and barbequed in the tandoor

2. Chicken Takatak: Boneless pieces of chicken marinated in yogurt, cashew paste and aromatic Indian spices, slow grilled in the tandoor

3. Lakhnowhi Kalmi Kebab: Succulent chicken fillets marinated with fresh yogurt, ginger and garlic prepared on a low tandoor flame

4. Dil bhari Tikka: Chef's Surprise

5. Tandoori Chicken: Marinated chicken cooked in hot oven for a clay oven baked flavour

6. Roshani Kebab: Minced chicken mixed with ginger & garlic, fresh coriander, freshly ground spices rolled, skewered and cooked in the tandoor

7. Shane Seekh Kebab: Premium lamb mince marinated in garlic, ginger and spices and baked in the tandoor

8. Lamb Chop: Succulent lamb chops marinated in yogurt and spicy paste, cooked in the tandoor

9. Lamb Khasi Kebab: Diced lamb pieces marinated in yogurt, garlic and ginger paste, cooked in the tandoor and topped with sesame seeds

10. Fish Amritsari: Fish pieces fried with fenugreek leaves and aniseed in a chickpea batter

I went there recently with a large group of about 20 pax, I have to admit the service was excellent and all meals came out in a reasonable time and all together. The food was fantastic and good size portions and reasonably price, although I thought $5.00 for a light beer is a bit rich, I suggest BYO your wine.. (Ian - July, 2008)
