It is located on the shores of Hobsons Bay in historic Williamstown, overlooks a panoramic vista of the city skyline and surrounding bayside suburbs. It uses only the freshest products sourced from the local markets and offers Melbourne's finest seafood menu. House specialities include linguini marinara, seafood curry, lobster and many more. The Strand also caters for non-seafood diners with a limited menu including a vegetarian dish. To compliment this is the best view of the city skyline that Melbourne provides; over 2km of uninterupted vistas across Hobson Bay.

I don't know where to start with The Strand. I have wanted to go there for over five years and for my mothers 66 birthday my family went. The food was to die for. Rich flavors, wonderful serving size and lovely presentation. The Ambience is the reason I was pulled there. The views at dusk and dark are so romantic and elegant. The value for money is astonishing. If you want cafe food go to a cafe. The food at The Strand is decadent and there was not one thing I could fault. Service. I have never had such wonderful service and I have dined around the world. The wait staff were tremendous. They just knew what a customer wanted. There was no hassling or selling. They were a part of the table. We were there for three hours and during that time everything was replenished and fresh and beautiful and we didn't even notice that they had filled our water glasses or our champaign glasses. Erika and the young man who served us were immaculate. If you want a lovely night out, for family, friends or that romantic occasion I highly suggest that you book a table at The Strand. The restaurant isn't packed wall to wall. There is wonderful spacing between each table so conversations of other guests don't interfere with your table and there is a delicate lining on the ceiling which also reduces noise. Due to there being such a small number of tables you can experience true customer service in which so many service industries are lacking in today's society.   (Georgina Davis - January, 2010)

I would recomment the Strand for those who like great food cooked to perfection. The food is a little more expensive than others but worth every cent. My first visit for many years and I was glad I returned and will do so again.

Overall the night was great however i was extremely disappointed that after booking this restaurant specifically looking to have seafood (in particular lobster) and to be told on a saturday night at 7.30pm they had already run out was poor form. Its the key night. I was very disappointed because it was my wife's birthday and its become a tradition for me to take her out and have lobster as a treat. I'll be going back to our regular restaruant and not supporting our locate area. Shame when you have this experience. I can say the staff were extremely pleasant but telling me i should have let them know and they would have saved one for us is also poor form, i'd understand if we were eating at 9pm and there might be a chance that all of them may have gone not at 7.30pm.

      Thanks   (August, 2008)

The service was excellent and the food was delicious though a little over priced. Would love to come back again.   (July, 2008)

I have been there a number of times in past years. I thought the pricing was too high and well above what I recall from my last visit - only one other table there for lunch in December seems to suggest that others may also feel it is well past value for money.   (December, 2007)

Would have given excellent rating except for minor details easily corrected. Meagre serving of rice could have had 2 extra spoonfuls and would have appeared non-stingy. Same with wine, another quarter of an inch would have looked better. Waitress was very "cold" although efficient. Fly buzzing around all through meal (and brought to waitress's attention) detracted from the ambience.

      Overall very good.   (November, 2007)

The seafood platter with 2 battered prawns and battered scallops and battered fish was more akin to a takeaway meal from my local, as was the teabag in a plunger. For $230 with 2 teas, 2 desserts and a few glasses of wine the cost was astronomical. I wouldn't recommend 'The Strand' for anything other than a quick coffee.   (Will - July, 2007)

Views, great service and food (and of course the lovely company of my husband) - The Strand is a must.   (Great experience - February, 2007)
