The White Swan Steak & Seafood Restaurant

  I love a good pasta.

  So when I went here the other day and enjoyed it, as much as I did, I thought it should be noted.

  Their Chicken and Prawn Fettuccine is amazing. It seems to come in a creamy like napolitana sauce and I don't know if it is the herbs in it, but the flavour is just superb.

  Compliments to the chef.

  Dined here recently to try something local and the pricing was actually decent to average. I liked the outside area which is open, but people may smoke there. However the food was not fresh at all, it tasted somewhat old and stale and I'm not that much of a fussy eater. The service felt like you were not being looked after as the staff seemed to be busy and not caring for the customers individual needs. I definitely would not eat here again as I had an upset stomach after eating their seafood. I rarely complain but I think this restaurant lacks professionalism and the service is almost non existent. The outside of the restaurant is also uninviting and quite ancient looking. The drinks on the other hand was ok, but I would have preferred actual coca cola rather than being served watered down soda from their kitchen.   (John Teal - August, 2012)

  My wife and I celebrated our wedding anniversary the other day.

  I know the White Swan as a nice romantic Restaurant, so I gave them a call to make a booking.

  My wife loved her meal and I chose one of the best steaks on the menu. It was a Rib Eye steak and it really was cooked to perfection.

  It was the best steak, I have had in such a long time!

  Food is good,service is very slow 1 1/2 hours for the entree 1hour for main then forgot the dessert. Can't fault the food when we got it. Allow three hour to eat there. I've done it once will not go there again better places to eat for my money.   (Chief007 - May, 2011)

  Went to the White Swan last saturday, after hearing that it was really nice now with the new owner. Well, for starters, the place needs a good facelift, i felt like i was at a wedding back in the 80's, with the mirrors on the walls and the carpet. We quite enjoyed the singer as he played and sang nice and soft, just enough so you could'nt hear other people talking. The food is very basic, bistro style food, not what i expected at all, but edible. Service was very slow and took more than 1 hour to get our mains, desert was not even worth the calories and then another hour went past after we order our coffees' only to find out that they had lost the order and came back to ask what we wanted again. Well that just topped the cake for me and was definately a first, by this stage there was no one left in the resturant and we left disappointed.   We attended a birthday function at the White Swan last weekend and were quite disappointed by the quality of the food and the out-dated decor. The staff were friendly and kind, but clearly not enthusiastic about working there.

  Our 3 course meal started with some breads on the table and entrée (of calamari rings) which was a great start. The bread was tasty and fresh out of the pizza oven. The calamaris were deep fried, I so guess hard to get wrong. Unfortunately the mains and desserts let them down dramatically. The veal dish my husband had was very sloppy and reminded us of poor wedding food. The fish dish I had was no better with some of the vegetables on the plate undercooked and far too crunchy. We were not the only ones disappointed with the food quality as we overheard some of the other guests at our table also complaining. The dessert at the end was no better with cheesecake that seemed like it was bought at the corner store and not made fresh. Overall not a very great dining experience. Hopefully they take our feedback onboard to improve their restaurant in the future.   (keepsmilyn - July, 2010)

  Having dined there many time prior to being taken back. There was 4 staff plus a bartender working and when my bottle of wine arrived I still had to take the cap of myself. The main meal was average for me having been cooked too much as I had Fillet Mignon my fiance also had the same and hers was perfect. I did complain but no action was taken.   We chose this restaurant for a family birthday dinner because of its varied menu as we had some fussy children eating with us. The prices indicated to me that the food would be good quality as it is not cheap. My kids had the $25 set menu and they were both disappointed with the entree (Prawn Cocktail) & mains (Steak Diane - awful sauce & Fish of the Day - did not taste fresh) but enjoyed the desserts. I had the Garlic Prawns in a Hotpot for entree & even though there were a lot of prawns, they used frozen not fresh & the garlic oil was very average. This is a $22 entree! My main was nice but not spectacular - the sauce seemed to be a microwave re-heat. My husband enjoyed his Camembert entree and Sizzling Steak but we both thought it was overpriced for the quality of food. The decor is ok but very dated, could definitely do with a revamp.   (georgie42 - March, 2008)

  Absolutely delightful evening. John was a perfect host for our small Birthday gathering. Timing between courses allowed for converstaion. Arrived at 7pm on a Monday evening. Dinner for 6 completed by 9:30 pm.We will be back.   (October, 2007)
