Nestled in the heart of Kurrajong Village in the beautiful Hawkesbury Hinterland is Toque Restaurant & Cafe, a must for travellers and locals searching for locally-grown, fresh produce from Kurrajong's famous Farm Gate Trail and beyond.

Situated in an early settlers' cottage circa 1914, Toque is owned and run by the excellent Sydney Chef, David Falson, whose training spanned award-winning Balmoral Bathers' Pavillion under owner and author Serge Dansereau, as well as some of the Kurrajong Region's best classical and contemporary restaurants and cafes.

Approximately 80klms north-west of Sydney, visitors to Toque Restaurant can still admire the sweeping green hills that formed the backdrop for the site's stonefruit orchard at the turn of the century. Live jazz on Sundays has become an institution in the Village, and should not be missed during your visit.

A young Chef with an immense interest in and knowledge of local food and wine, Falson's restaurant is a valuable contribution to the Village's charm, employing various local staff with an interest in food preparation and the restaurant industry.

All food served at Toque is handmade in the Toque kitchen, including stocks, sauces, desserts, cakes and breads, all from local seasonal produce. Falson is truly passionate about food and continually inspires his young staff to strive for excellence.

Inspired by French and Mediterranean cuisine, Falson's menu - which changes seasonally - has been recognised by top reviewers as bringing the best of European cooking to the Hawkesbury and Lower Blue Mountains Region.

Toque is fully licensed, open Thurs-Mon for brunch, lunch, dinner and Sunday for breakfast, brunch & dinner; or a tasting plate under the stars.

What a fabulous place this is! We have been here a number of times now and it is just a great experience. The food is fabulous, service excellent, and the staff make you feel very relaxed and special. Everything is made on the premises. None of the processed packaged sauces that are all too common nowadays. Also the value is great. We had 3 courses plus wine and it cost us around $75/head. Included was a free appetizer! A truly wonderful place!   (J Banks - September, 2009)

City dining meets the Hawkesbury district! What a great restaurant. The menu and the calibre of food at Toque is sensational. The restaurant itself has a great relaxed atmosphere, and the wait staff are both friendly and polite. We will definately be back.   (DW - See my reviews (2) - May, 2008)

We had heard that Toque were to launch their new menu on Saturday evening of the Anzac long weekend so we made a booking at a local B & B. We arrived at 7pm and were seated by the window. The view was spectacular, the restaurant was packed & had a great vibe. I ordered a salad to start and my partner ordered freshly baked bread with blue cheese butter - both were delicious. I went straight to the main and ordered a roquefort & leek flan, my partner ordered the skirt steak and we shared a side of winter greens. Both dishes were superb, the flan was light but fulfilling and the steak cooked to perfection. I had peeped at the dessert menu and had resolved to try the warm chocolate profiteroles and my partner ordered the creme caramel. I finished the meal with a housemade chai and my partner ordered a short black. Boy, what a sensational menu, the food and service were perfect and staff helpful. Some wines on the wine list weren't available but were more than happy with a delicious shiraz from WA. I would walk over hot coals to dine at Toque! We've dined there twice now and can't wait until the next long weekend so we can visit again.   (hervey - See my reviews (2) - April, 2008)

My partner and i were delighted to discover this top quality little restaurant. The menu was seasonal and local and put together with finesse. I travel a lot throughout Europe and this is some of the best food I've tasted.... VERY IMPRESSED! we'll be back to try the lunch menu .   (matthew G - February, 2008)
