Clareville Kiosk

We have dined him 4 times now, the most recent being their superb Mother Days luncheon. And have booked visiting corporate guests in for lunches - always well received. The service is top notch - warm & inviting w/o being obvious, no pretentiousness here. The staff know all the wines and menu items very well and can answer any questions you may have. The restaurant itself is evry intimate (only seats about 35), so bookings are essential, parking is plentiful and free.We have never had a bad meal/experience here. Highly recommended. (Holtz - June, 2012)

Moby's Restaurant At Whale Beach
- 227 Whale Beach rd, Whale Beach NSWOverall 7.8 - Food 9, Ambience 8, Value 8, Service 6
Great view, shame our table was placed directly next to the window pylon, which is odd considering there were only four tables booked that night and plenty of spares by the window that could have offered an unobstructed view. We had booked specifically a window table with a great view, should have included ( pylon free ) - we had great starters, seafood platter for 2 is divine and just enough.Dessert was a bit limited, and my biscotti was rock hard - gave-up eventually. Service was cheeky but satisfactory , however, considering only 8 patrons all night, several times we had to get up and go looking for the waiter down the back to order or pay the bill - pretty ordinary for a top class restaurant in a world class location. We had great fun, it was more to do with the company and the view, but we won't return. (Holtz - November, 2008)

Delicious food very good service and nice ambience - very pricey and the saturday we went, we were the only patrons. They did do a roaring trade on take-aways though. (Holtz - December, 2008)

Le Boulevarde French Restaurant
- 40 Avalon pde, Avalon NSWOverall 8.3 - Food 9, Ambience 6, Value 9, Service 9
This restaurant is an establishment in Avalon , it is nothing to look at from out or within, decor not being updated from the 80's with lots of chunky wooden furniture and too many tables to have any kind of private conversation , so if you want to have a romantic interlude or berate your other half, this is not the place to do it, unless you want everyone to hear. You must book, the place fills up rapidly every night. Service was amazing considering there is only one waitress, the competition could learn a thing or two from this restaurant. The food was a delight, decadently french ,and rich with flavours and a heavy use of cheese and cream - the servings are not overwhelming so good things do come in small packages in this case. We tried the goats cheese souffle and french onion soup - both divine. Mains were Chicken in white wine and Duck in red wine jus - both spectacular, the vegies came on the side for both and were ample and well presented.Try the specials - which change regularly - really interesting and creative use of seasonal produce - we thoroughly enjoyed our time here and will be back. Mali Thai Restaurant
- Careel Head rd, Avalon NSWOverall 8.3 - Food 8, Ambience 7, Value 10, Service 8
WE both enjoyed the mixed entree - we had the Crying Tiger ( which is good if you like spicy) and Beef Red Curry ( which is not spicy but very sweet) - they were equally good and the service prompt. The place was packed so either get there at opening time - when there are plenty of free tables or book.Only drawback was we were charged $3 for corkage when the menu said it was $2 and we BYO and opened, poured and kept the wine bottle in our own chiller bag - so I think it was a bit much to charge for use of glasses! Aside from that, we enjoyed it and will probably bring back a larger group to sample the extensive menu some more. (Holtz - July, 2008)

Different Drummer Avalon
- Level 1, 50 Old Barrenjoey rd, Avalon NSWOverall 3.5 - Food 3, Ambience 9, Value 1, Service 1
my party of 4 ate here again and what a huge disappointment it was, I was embarassed to have brought our guests here. We had to ask for everything, no menus, no water, no drinks, to give our order, to get another drink and to finally get our bill - they were at 40% capacity for a Saturday night, so being busy was no excuse - we spent $250 for our meals, which were not as good, not enough, despite the waiter telling us we had ordered too much!!! we could have spent double that amount with more cocktails, another 2 bottle of wine, coffees and dessert but we had to crash tackle waiters to get any attention and the wait between was far too long - so we left very miffed with 35 other restaurants in the area we could have walked across the road to any number of them and got sensational service, larger portions for half the price and not had the runs all the next day - won't be going back and have to take our guests out again to apologise! Avalon Italian Restaurant
- 41 Old Barrenjoey rd, Avalon NSWOverall 9.3 - Food 9, Ambience 8, Value 10, Service 10
Always a pleasure to eat here, the service is attentive but discreet. The food is top quality and fresh, presented appealingly, the meal size is just right, making you feel satisfied but not uncomfortably full. The bill is always a complete surprise - you can get away for $100 for 2 people with 3 courses, breads and coffee and corkage.I would expect this level of quality and service to be a lot more painful to the hip pocket - but it is always excellent value for money. We will be back. Avalon Chinese Restaurant

What a lovely experience we had, despite making a booking through this service is was not relayed to the restaurant when we arrived at 8 on a Friday night, even though it was a very busy place and we were 4 hungry adults, the maitre'd foun us a table and the service was friendly, efficient, professional and discreet. We ate some magnificent specials and for $135.00 was a great value for money locale. We will be back.Hen How. (Holtz - November, 2007)
