Up until now i have been searching for a late night cafe serving a decent coffee and I finally found one. When I took a seat, I wasn't really expecting much. There's nothing special about the design, the atmosphere or the food, but the buzz of George street on a Friday night and the coffee more than compensated.
Serving a Vittoria roast was initially a turn off, but I was pleasantly surprised when I tasted my first coffee. My Latte was smooth, full-flavoured and consistent from my first sip till my last. The aroma was comforting, milk and grind were just right. I enjoyed it so much I felt the need to thank their barista.
This definitely has to be the best late night coffee I have ever had. I highly recommend trying this place out. (Jimmyw - April, 2012)

This has to be the best day-time cafe in Sydney. I just moved into the area when a client of mine suggested meeting at this art-deco style cafe. I was impressed to say the least. Coffee was smooth and full-flavoured (far better than what most CBD cafe's have to offer), the waitress was energetic and fun and combined with the Bircher muesli, fruit and yoghurt I enjoyed, Pen provided me with the best possible start to my day.
Compliments to the staff! Highly recommended!!! (Jimmyw - April, 2012)

I live and work in Pyrmont and stopped coming to the PEN a few years ago. Since then, management has changed and so has everything else. The food is exceptional. Everything, whether its take-away or from the menu, is made to order by quality chef's and it's cheaper than anyone in the area who's product is half as good.
I noticed they also got serious about their coffee. I dont know what it is, or where they get it from, but it's to die for!!!
I'm a PEN addict now. Only problem is that it doesn't open at night or weekends. (Jimmyw - April, 2012)
