The Italian Bowl
- 255 King st, Newtown NSWOverall 6 - Food 8, Ambience 4, Value 6, Service 6
Firstly its a small place, its like being in a sardine can and I like my space! There are stools facing where the people cook and at least they maximise the space they have but if you're in a big group, I wouldn't come here. The food itself is great, I like my salmon risotto and everyone else was satisfied with their meal. Their garlic bread is disappointing though and the bowl of chips was better than other places.
But the portions are smaller than expected, if I didn't have garlic bread and chips I would still be hungry. Prices for the mains are a little much for what you get but prices for entrees are reasonable. Service, the lady at the encounter just wasn't listening to what I was saying, she seemed disinterested. While another staff member gave us cutlery when we should have picked it up ourselves so maybe it depends who you get!
Overall good food but smaller portions than expect, cramped conditions and service is probably dependant on the day. (rojoe roger - July, 2009)

Est., Establishment Hotel
- 252 George st, Sydney CBD NSWOverall 8.8 - Food 9, Ambience 9, Value 7, Service 10
Admittedly, eating at a lot of cheap food like Vietnamese and Chinese, its a strange feeling to pay $140 for a 5 course meal when I'm use to paying maximum $15.
Service is great, you are greeted at the door/elevator, and lead to your table and tucked in and the menu is explained to you and food comes out for everyone the exact time with multiple waiters. Filling up water without asking, I've never been so pampered.
The place itself has a nice view outside and a feel of being in a movie where the main actor goes to a high class restaurant, well it is a high class restaurant but you feel elite coming here. The food itself was close to divine! The entree's were just beyond expectation and some dishes you can taste its just that much better than other places. The desserts was mouth watering and the chocolates at the end was a great touch.
The disappointing part was the mains, the slow cooked pork (I love my pork) was similar to Chinese roasted pig, but to pay the price I did for that small rectangle is not what I was expecting. The lamb was ok, a little chewy, I was expecting more.
My workmate raves about the potato mash, it was better than expected to not as divine as my workmate was saying it to be, its really nice and smooth tasting.
Value is hard to gauge, its a 3 chefs hat restaurant and its only til the dessert was eaten I felt just comfortable filled up. But I was thinking of grabbing something else to eat afterwards. So from someone to eat cheaply usually, this is a great experience despite the cost, a place I would ask my future wife to marry me but that's still a bit far away. (rojoe roger - July, 2009)

Inferno Cafe
- Macquarie Centre Herring rd, North Ryde NSWOverall 7.3 - Food 7, Ambience 8, Value 6, Service 8
Can really only comment on the pizza, and it was good but a little small in size. At the same time I know its a cafe after all so I wasn't expecting something family sized. Its a nice place, clean and seems to be very well staffed. It also has a upstairs section where the window faces the road, its not much to look at (the road) but its better than a wall! Service was quick and polite. A little pricey for me but otherwise a good experience. (rojoe roger - July, 2009)

Rossini Restaurants
- Shop W5 Alfred st, Circular Quay NSWOverall 5.8 - Food 5, Ambience 7, Value 3, Service 8
Well the food was average at best, and its expensive when you consider its cafe style of place, but that's what you expect at circular quay. You can't complain about the service, there are people always there willing to help you and also suggest items on the menu.
Buying your food beforehand is a problem, especially when you can't remember the name of the dish you want, and there does not appear to be a menu. My order was wrong when I said the first veal dish to the left. A menu would be good at this time! (rojoe roger - July, 2009)

Eastwood Garden Peking Restaurant
- 167 Rowe st, Eastwood NSWOverall 8 - Food 8, Ambience 8, Value 7, Service 9
I found the food to be good but their char kei deow is more like Singapore noodles than fried noodles. Tried the dumplings also and duck with pancakes which was great. The place is tidy and clean but a little small. Service was great, quick to be served and food didn't take long to come out. Value: its reasonably priced. A good experience, the duck is great! Eastbank Cafe Bar Pizzeria
- Gnd Floor, Quay Grand 61-69 Macquarie st, Sydney CBD NSWOverall 7.3 - Food 8, Ambience 8, Value 5, Service 8
Its actually located at Circular Quay! Went there with a friend, we wanted something quick as we had a show at the opera house and the waiter saw me and my friend wondering around and convinced us to eat and he would get the cook to cook our food first, whether this truly happened or not I am not sure, but we just made the show on time!
The pizza was pretty good and the chips was one of the better hot chips we have had. And the tartare and tomato sauce was a nice touch. Ambience: you're in circular quay, enough said! Service: the waiter that convinced us to eat, my friend was impressed how he brought others to eat at the restaurant. Value: its expensive, a bowl of chips for $9, that's not cheap, but at the same time, its the prices you expect.
Overall a good experience. (rojoe roger - July, 2009)

Silk Road Chinese Restaurant
- 8 Quay st, Sydney CBD NSWOverall 7 - Food 8, Ambience 5, Value 8, Service 7
Its a small place and a little hidden if you don't walk by it, but it's great food. We tried a little of everything and my friend kept praising how good it was and I agree. Service was good, the food didn't take long to come out. The place itself though is quite small and my friends were questioning why there are plastic grapes hanging from the roof! Did they leave the decorations from the previous owners?
The bill was cheaper than I expected and its good value when you look at the prices which is what you expect to pay at a food court. A great experience, will be back! (rojoe roger - July, 2009)

Emperor's Garden Seafood Restaurant
- 96-100 Hay st, Haymarket NSWOverall 6.8 - Food 7, Ambience 7, Value 8, Service 5
I liked the yum cha here, but I didn't see any mango pancakes (sorry a private joke between my friend if he reads this).
It has a outdoor area and a upstairs area and it was crowded on a Saturday lunch time.
Didn't have to wait long for a table but there was 2 ladies at the front, one acknowledging me that I had the ticket, the other yelling out my ticket number at least 5 times and not listening to me when I said my friend will be back in 1 minute, I felt like I was rushed upstairs unbeknown to my friend who just went to the toilet and luckily they found me. Also my friend asked for a coke and the lady asked her to ask a waiter, one walked pasted and the waitresses didn't stop him, at least we were thanked when we left.
Value, it cost around $21 each which seems to be good value nowadays.
Overall a good experience despite the service. (rojoe roger - July, 2009)

Sicilian Parramatta
- 292 Church st, Parramatta NSWOverall 4.8 - Food 6, Ambience 7, Value 3, Service 3
Tried the pizza and it was slightly above average than other places, the mykonos pizza was probably the best out of all of them, I think because the feta really goes well on pizza. Looking at other customers plates, the other dishes seem to be big in size.Tried the pasta, its average to me, but at least they weren't stingy with the prawns
Ambience: its a large place, according to the website it can fit over 200 people, when we arrived out our table though they had yet to clean it. Service: they didn't have our booking despite my friend ringing them twice about it and one of my friends felt one of the waitresses in particular gave him attitude! Whether this was her sarcastic sense of humour, I am unsure but its not good to joke to customers unless you're sure the customer understands it's a joke.
The waitress wanted my friend to grab a coffee which he didn't order and even said its heavy and she can't hold it forever! The 2nd round of pizza's we ordered took a long while to come out. Value: the prices of the pizza's to me was overpriced and even soft drinks was not cheap.
Overall an average experience (rojoe roger - July, 2009)

Thai I m
- 2 410 Church st, Parramatta NSWOverall 6.7 - Food 8, Value 6, Speed 6
It's a small place and does have a outside area, nice decorations inside but its still a bit small for me. The service itself, the food did take around 15-20 minutes to come out and there was only one couple in there.
Value: It's a little pricey, the mains of honey lamb, almost $19 for 3 pieces and there are four pieces of chicken for its Thai I M grilled chicken was 4 pieces for almost $14. Sorry but that's not good value for me. Admittedly the food is good, the mixed entree (apart from the satay chicken stick) is much more tastier than other places, the curry puff had chunky pieces in it which was great, the fish cake is probably one of the best I've tasted.
The honey lamb was good, the grill chicken was great! Good food, but its pricey (rojoe roger - July, 2009)
