      Vaby's Mediterranean Restaurant appears to have a pleasant dining area. However looks can be deceiving. My first and only experience, was for a farewell lunch, with 40 seats reserved and all meals pre-ordered. The host arrived late due to unavoidable reasons, yet the staff were pushing to bring the main courses out even though there were only five guests present, ten minutes after the planned lunch time. Their impatience was disrespectful and very unprofessional. When the host did arrive, there was no greeting from the staff, just complaints and over-whelming dis respect. When the over-priced meals were finally brought out, there were many complications, and the waitresses seemed awfully dis-organised. They presented the food in a rude and unprofessional fashion, and took their frustration from their own mistakes out on the host. Two of the pre-ordered meals were not brought out, one having to be re-ordered, and the other not brought out at all. With such unprofessional service, there was hope that the meals were at least nice, however for the price that was paid, the food was ridiculous, and could have tasted better. This is a poor excuse for a restaurant.   (March, 2011)

      I felt like I was in one of Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmare restaurants (before they get fixed).

      Service - very poor considering we were the second family there initially. We had to wait for our drinks, we only saw the waitress 5 times..1st time she seated us, second time took our order, third time handed out entree,fourth time took plates away, fifth time mains . By this time we needed more drinks....and the bill....we just got up and paid at the door.

      The food - Brushcetta - served on thick untoasted doughy bread - very bland

      Tapas platter consisted of a chirizo sausage sliced up, chopped up vegies - all brown not sure what I was eating - bland and octopus in garlic sauce - not bad

      Mains - for the kids we ordered penne bolognaise (from the kids menu) they got fettuccine instead - they couldn't eat it because it was too spicy.

      seafood platter for two - the only thing with flavour- clams in garlic butter, prawns in garlic butter. chips were placed at the bottom of the platter - so they were Extremely soggy. Oysters were washed until all the flavour was washed out. When you finish all you can feel is your tongue coated in garlic butter.

      When we complained we were given a heap of excuses...we didn't care for our money we just wanted them to be aware of the bad cooking and service....but they just don't give a s**t. Couldn't get out there fast enough!!!   (looney - See my reviews (2) - July, 2010)

      Been there many times with family & friends.Food very good and plentiful, service has improved greatly over last 2 years. Had a number of free meals through their membership deals. Can happily recommend Vaby's to every one.   (Les - June, 2009)

      Visiting early on Sunday evening (table booked for 6pm), staff were very attentive and pleasant, food excellent, portions large and prices reasonable. This was my party's second visit in the past month and we shall continue to go back.

      The reason i will never return to this place is due to the service provided from staff.... that is if you call waiting 1 1/2 hours for someone to take your order service. Not only that the attitude of the workers was appalling, they were dry faced and rude.   (John C - October, 2008)

      My families experience at this restaurant was one that you just want to get up and walk out from.....Believe me it was a disgrace, the wait on the entrees (potato skins) was over half and hour, and there was only four tables full in the whole restaurant. The staff looked like they wanted to be anywhere else but in this restaurant. The food was cold overcooked or recooked. A hair in the burger was more than enough. We were seated near the door (and the restaurant was nearly empty) and in winter with the cold air coming in, we should have just sat outside. I was that disgusted in the seafood meal, due to overcooked or sitting and waiting to come out for too long. I asked for a refund, the manager did not even look at me and just huffed and walked away. How on earth do you run a restaurant with people and food like this. Well.... I'll never put my family through that again and nor should anyone else.   (nothappyjan - September, 2008)

      2nd time I had been there and will never go again. Service was very slow, was constantly asking staff to order drinks and food. Was shown disrespect and plain rudeness in regards to questioning timing.   (Dee - August, 2008)

      We went as a work group of 44 people $45 set menu. One good thing is if they don't show you don't pay , it is a nice clean place with lots of familes. On a winters night it was very cosey.

      worst service i have ever received fish was hard as rock, bug in salad i saw chefs picking food up off floor. didn't touch my meal and demanded refund was denied this and made pay full . Was so disappointed. staff was rude one walked off swearing a young girl and manager denied she had done this. Was treated awful left very upset ...   (August, 2008)

      The restaurant was cold inside, had to leave our jackets on for the whole time. Prompt to be seated and take drink orders, but entree and mains took a long time. Email booking was not picked up by restaurant but they had room. Food was good, and the manager was very friendly and helpful but she was rushed of her feet. I think a bit understaffed. Turn on some heat and hire another person!   (July, 2008)

      Went into an almost empty Vabys at Penrith we asked for a window seat but were told they we were reserved. Had to call the waitress on 15 minutes so we could order. 45 minutes later our food arrived. considering there was only 4 other tables with people on them, that is pretty poor. The Food was nice. Good value for money. And maybe at a busier time with a more experienced crew on the service may have been better.   (Mr Todd - See my reviews (2) - April, 2008)

      The only thing wrong with the food was that there wasn't enough of it on the plate. I was tempted to order round two.

      Service before and during the meal was great, but at the end it felt as tough we were being pushed out the door so that staff could go home, and as i own my own copany I know that, thats not the way to keep your customers wanting to come back.
