Gourmet food is the order of the day. Our breads, pastas and ice creams are all made in the restaurant kitchen thereby providing a glimpse of the care and attention to detail this restaurant affords its dining guests. The best in local and seasonal produce from the region is complemented by the Estate’s extensive herb gardens.

Service levels are everything you’d expect of a five star establishment, with the Estate’s cellar brimful of wines from the acclaimed Mornington Peninsula, other regions of Australia and overseas.

Enjoy simply magnificent views of the water. Wander through the gardens or around the lake between courses. There is also a drawing room and billiards room for pre and post dining drinks.

Best of all, it’s the relaxed atmosphere at Woodman Estate that sets this dining establishment apart from others. Warm, welcoming and approachable, amidst professional and friendly service.

We received a gift voucher entitling us to a lunch at this venue from an online “experience” provider. On arrival, we found the surroundings were very pleasant, with the venue set in an old mansion located in extensive grounds in Moorooduc. Disappointingly though, we had to wade through mud and puddles from the unpaved car park to the entrance. On entering, as we were early, we were required to go back outside and wait under a verandah until our booking time. At the appointed time we were shown to a table in a dining room. There were four other diners lunching there on this day. We were presented with a wine list from which we were to select our “included” glass of wine. On making a selection, we were then informed that only three of the wines on the list were available as the “included” wine. We both ordered Crab for our entree. The entree arrived on a long narrow plate and consisted of a “egg–cup sized”, “dollop” of minced crab meat at one end of the plate accompanied by a spoonful of salad at the other. These two items were linked by a “drizzle” of seafood cocktail sauce. The crab was tasteless. For mains we both ordered the Porterhouse. When it arrived, it consisted of a 2” x 1” piece of steak, sitting on a piece of silver-beet leaf. Four slices of potato were also placed on the plate. The steak was well cooked and tasty, but the leaf was so salty it was un-edible. In summary, this venue provides extremely poor value for money, and it is a complete “rip-off”, with “style” triumphing over substance. If this was an “Experience”, then it was one we would not care to repeat.

It was my sister's birthday, so although I thought it was a wonderful experience, it was up to her for the final say. Her comment was: "It was perfect". Thank you.

I couldn't fault the food, service or ambience. 10 out of 10

David Sarfaty - A welcome additional to the culinary ranks of the Mornington Peninsula is David Sarfaty. Born in Melbourne and raised north of the border in Sydney, David's rich background and training includes fine dining with Louis Loizia in Sydney, the art of regional Italian cuisine in St Kilda and Sydney and, of course, the Byron Bay experience of Japanese fusion with Eki Takagi. This eclectic mix of cooking influences and culture provides the solid foundation for simply outstanding modern Australian cuisine. A positive, thoughtful individual who adores his family, David will undoubtedly boost the the quality of dining available on the Peninsula.
