Have been there far too many times to remember and never had a bad experience and is always good value for money with the size of the servings and service has been superb and thats just counting saturday nights. OK, I admit I know the Manager of Zeno's (and have for 30 years) but the fish and ships I had last night was the best I've had in years - the spanish makerel was cooked to perfection, the batter light and crisp, and the chips fresh and tasty, as was the salad. OK, it was a 'freebie' for me but for quality fish and chips, I've found few places as good, anywhere in Perth.   (Zenos - December, 2011)

Went there with a voucher. Would not go again, would not recomend it. Very expensive for what it is.

I got the grilled seafood platter - everything was deep fried exept the fish :(. The fish was not fresh and the fishyness was overpowering. Garlic prawns tasted as if they had been bought cooked and frozen then defrosted in a pool of garlic butter. Garlic bread was greasy and soggy. Pickled octupus was ok, calamari was ok, thai fish cakes ok. crab rangoons were frozen party pie quality. Chips were soggy and white - needed to be cooked more.

In short, don't go here if you are a foodie. It is probaly ok for families who want to enjoy the ambience.   (May, 2011)

We went to Zeno's because we had a voucher. Upon entering, we found it quaint and cosy and the paintings and deco were absolutely gorgeous.

Upon looking at the menu, we realised that the prices were a bit on the high side. If we had not had the voucher, the entrees alone would have costed us $30.

We had piping hot bread rolls as soon as we sat down. For entrees, we had the crab and cream cheese rangoons and the calamari and they were superb. For mains, I had the red emperor while my partner had the chili prawns. The portions were good but they charged $2 extra for the fish to be grilled (!!).

All in all, it was an okay experience except for the price. The bill came up to $110 and we didn't even have any alcoholic drinks or coffee thereafter. The Breakwater (just a few steps away from Zeno's) have just about the same prices. Pretty expensive for a cafe with no table service.

Sad to say, if we do not have vouchers, we will certainly not be back. (K&A - 27 April 2011)   (K&A - See my reviews (2) - May, 2011)
