You guys, it’s the Queen’s Birthday on June 11, which means a delightful long weekend for all of us! (Well, with the exception of WA celebrating on September 24, and Queensland on October 1st.)
Did you know that the Queen celebrates two birthdays? Her her real birthday on April 21, and her official birthday on the second Saturday in June? 2018 will mark her 92nd year, and in 2015, she became the longest ruling monarch, commemorating 65 years on the throne. So yeah, suddenly two birthdays seems pretty reasonable.
To help you ease into the holiday weekend, we compiled a bunch of nifty recommendations fit for, that’s right…
CLASSIC PUB FARE
What better way to pay homage to Mother England than with a plate of good ol’ bangers and mash? Or its Aussie cousin, steak and chips? If you’re not into either of those options, an excellent Angus burger always goes down a treat, as does a Chicken Parmigiana, and there’s always the OG pub dish, chicken pot pie….
If you’ve been eyeing the forecast, you’ll know that we’re set to shiver through the second weekend of winter. So cosying up with a hot, aromatic meal couldn’t be a more beautiful thought. We’re thinking comforting Indian – Butter Chicken, Korma, or Lamb Tikka Masala. Thai is also a solid option when the temps are chilly, we’re thinking along the lines of a warming Red Curry, Tom Yum, or Drunken Noodles.
HEALTHY AND HEARTY
For a 100% regret-free takeout meal, you have more than a few delicious options.
Consider a mouthwatering Buddha bowl, a brown rice tortilla quesadilla, sweet potato fries (okay, so maybe closer to 50% guilt-free), or a scrumptious falafel with a side of healthy hummus.
Whether you’re down for an indulgent winter-y dish or a nutritious meal, grab those blankets, catch-up on your Netflix watch list and let Menulog take care of the rest.
