Menulog’s announced winners of Restaurant Awards for Winter 2019

Menulog has revealed Australia’s most popular eateries in its Winter Restaurant Awards series. The Rollin Dough pizzeria in Sunshine, Victoria has been awarded with the National title of Australia’s favourite winter restaurant, based on outstanding order numbers and overall customer satisfaction.

A first-time national award winner, The Rollin Dough offers a wide variety of traditional and modern Italian flavours and made to order pizzas to suit all tastes without breaking the bank, ​from the iconic Capetown pizza, with goat’s cheese and cherry tomatoes, to the smoked Salmon Sensation pizza, with bocconcini and lemon wedges, to the Veggie Delite pizza with pineapples and zaatar.

Owners of The Rollin Dough Sunshine, Serey Nop and Bill Kolevski said, “Pizza is not only our favourite food, but we love that each base is a new canvas for us to create amazing flavours. Since launching our restaurant more than eight years ago, we never imagined being the most popular restaurant on Menulog. Our partnership with Menulog has been very successful and provided us with the opportunity to conveniently deliver delicious food to our loyal customers and local community.”

Australia’s love for good pizza has been shown through the crowning of Western Australia’s, Mario’s Pizza as the People’s Choice for the most popular restaurant on Menulog. Mario’s Pizza is loved by the local community for their ​home-style pizzas made with traditional, fresh ingredients. Owner Mario Franchina has been making pizzas since he was a child and is passionate about delivering flavoursome food to his customers.

The Menulog Winter Restaurant Awards also revealed the most popular restaurant in each state, with winners including:

  • VIC - Yarraville based Pizzeria, ​Pizza Del Sole, known for delectable Italian favourites such as gourmet pizzas and risotto
  • NSW - ​Newtown’s Kammadhenu​, a local eatery specialising in South Indian, Sri Lankan and Malay curries
  • ACT - ​Dawat-e-Punjab​, renowned for serving up flavoursome Halal and Indian cuisine, with crowd-pleasers like Butter Chicken and Chana Masala
  • WA – ​Perfect Pizza​, Halls Head, ​famous for their Almond Chicken, Magic Mushroom and Feta Vegetarian pizzas
  • TAS – Local Sandy Bay eatery, ​La Bella Pizza​, particularly popular for their BBQ special with slathers of bacon
  • SA – ​Beyond India​, an award-winning Modbury North restaurant known for its traditional and authentic Indian food offering
  • QLD – Hervey Bay restaurant, ​Hogs Breath Cafe, ​delivering the food chain’s iconic steakhouse flavours
  • NT – Local ​Casuarina restaurant, ​Thai Thai​, are loved by local​s for their garlic and ginger rice, curry puffs and fish cakes

This season, Menulog has also unveiled the top trending dishes across Australia from Wicked Wings to Chilli Chicken pizza, these restaurants took out the top spot when it came to favourite winter feeds on certain occasions:

  • Best Fakeaway Dish - When it comes to taking the credit for delicious food, an Italian-style Carbonara from ​La Porchetta Altona Meadows, Victoria, has been the most popular dish for Aussies to claim as their own home-cooked meal
  • Best Netflix and Chill - a night in with crispy Wicked Wings from ​KFC has become a popular alternative to the traditional date night
  • Best Unique Dish - Weekly specials from ​Down n Out​, Crows Nest in Sydney are known to surprise and delight. This week’s special is the Rambo: Part 2 - think tasty wagyu beef patty, with a fried bolognese & mozzarella patty, napolitana mac & cheese and a garlic bread aioli
  • Best Chilli Dish ​- Award winning lebanese eatery, Manoosh Pizzeria​, has continued to keep their customers taste buds wanting more with the Chilli Chicken pizza being the most favoured dish in Australia
  • Best Comfort Food ​- when indulging in all things greasy and good, the Butter Chicken from Burwood, ​The Taste of Village​ continue to deliver hearty and comforting favourites
