About Last Train to Bombay (Crows Nest)

Established over 16 years ago by experienced restaurateur Harry Virk, The Last Train To Bombay restaurants are celebrated for their unique Indian cuisine, relaxed ambience and excellent service. Harry Virk and his specialist chefs offer a truly authentic Indian dining experience, creating the finest dishes, famous for their intricate spicing, skilful sauces and delicious flavours. “Don’t miss The Last Train To Bombay. Anyone on a journey to explore India’s regional culinary delights should climb aboard. There’s a choice of destinations, thanks to a team of specialist chefs … We’ve reached not Bombay, but foodie Nirvana.” Joland Waskito, Sunday Telegraph, 4 March 2007 “Eating here is like being in a first class dining car chugging across India. Atmospheric snaps of railway scenes from the sub-continent adorn a wall and behind a glass panel, chefs are slapping chapattis between their hands and spoon out exotic fare such as goat aloo (baby goat with potatoes and coriander).” “When Prince Raj Mewar, son of the Majaharajah of Udaipur, studied hotel management here, he was a regular at Last Train To Bombay. On what we saw, the Prince is a pretty good judge.” Jeff Collerson, Daily Telegraph, 6 January 2007.

My food delivery was very late and when I called the restaurant to check how much longer it would be I received a very rude "It's gone" yelled at me down the phone and was dismissed. When I stopped him from hanging up on me and again tried to ask how much longer it might be, I again just was yelled at "it's gone!". When the delivery driver arrived with cold soggy food 20mins later he simply blamed the restaurant for "giving it to him late" and told me he didn't care if it was late or not to talk the the restaurant. Both the service and the food were so horrible I would not use them again and would recommend against getting delivery from them.

Kofta was rotten. It was definitely not prepared on the same day. Must have been prepared 2-3 before.

We ordered around $60 worth of food, the prices looked expensive but we're new in the area and they're highly rated. The curry we ordered was ok but it wasn't enjoyed after our disappointing experience. I ordered puri as I haven't had it in years but it arrived completely soggy as the container was filled to the brim with yogurt, we couldn't eat any of it because it would fall apart and disintegrate every time we tried. When we called the owner he didn't offer a refund or a replacement, he offered a free one next time we ordered (which we won't be again) and this was after I spoke to several people who kept passing me around without introduction to new people. $10 wasted for not just a disappointing dish but an inedible one.

Very disappointed with the food we ordered from Last Train to Bombay last night. The Rogan Josh had a nice flavour, but we had to dig around in the sauce to find the meat, which seemed to be missing in action! The Chicken Tika Masala was quite bland and the chicken was tough. We would not order from here again.

Excellent food preparation. I have tried Indian food around the world and I have to admit food from Last Train To Bombay was one of the best. Must try for those who love Indian food.

We decided to try the South Indian delicacies on the menu. These were nothing short of a disappointment served cold. Furthermore the paneer had a bunch of hair in it. Will not be ordering from here again!!

Ordered home delivery. Received malai kofta with very little gravy. Called the restaurant, and for no reason received a earful from the restaurant owner on how we were greedy for '500gm of gravy' and that 'he does not want our business'. Then he hung up on us. Twice! Really appalled at the owner's attitude towards customers and would not recommend the restaurant to anyone.
