Sushi is essentially vinegared rice, often wrapped in seaweed and featuring many combinations of ingredients, including salmon and avocado, to crab meat, to shrimp tempura, to lobster, and even eel. Many variations of Sushi found in the Western world, including the infamous California roll (avocado, crab meat, cucumber), the Spicy tuna roll (raw tuna, hot sauce, mayonnaise), the Rainbow roll (basically the California roll with different kinds of fish), are not commonly found in Japan, if at all. In its motherland, the art of Sushi making is indeed just that, an art form. In fact, it can take anywhere from two to four years to master this painstaking craft.
