Working together to keep safe during the coronavirus situation
The health and safety of the entire Menulog community is our top priority. In light of recent developments with regards to the coronavirus (COVID-19) situation, we have made some additional changes to how we operate to help protect the entire Menulog community.
PRACTICING CONTACT-FREE COLLECTIONS AND DELIVERIES
The Australian Department of Health and the World Health Organisation (WHO) recommends social distancing to help prevent the spread of illness. As such, we have made all orders ‘Contact-free’ by default. This means couriers should have no close contact with restaurants or customers throughout the entire delivery process.
CONTACT-FREE COLLECTIONS
To ensure safe social distancing, we suggest the following steps:
- Alert the restaurant to your arrival. In the event the restaurant is closed for dine-in or the doors are shut, it’s important to make yourself known / visible to staff
- Step back a safe distance (at least 1.5m) from staff and wait for them to place the food on the counter or a table
- Step forward to collect the order and immediately place in your thermal bag
KEEPING A SAFE DISTANCE FROM OTHERS WHEN COLLECTING
Following recent Government announcements, you may find an increase in other couriers visiting restaurants at the same time as you.
As such, we also suggest you also practice social distancing from other couriers in addition to restaurant staff and do not congregate in groups outside or inside restaurants when collecting orders.
We also recommend not using Drive Thrus at this time due to lengthy wait times.
CONTACT-FREE DELIVERIES
When delivering to customers, we suggest you:
- Ring the doorbell or knock and leave the food at the customer’s front door (or specified location in ‘Customer Notes’)
- Step back a safe distance (at least 1.5m) and wait for the customer to collect the food
- Make sure the customer has collected the food before you leave. We recommend you call the customer if needed
Keep food safe with delivery gear
It’s important we are all extra vigilant on food safety at this time. As such, we are reminding all couriers to bring their commercial-grade thermal food bags into the restaurant and to ensure deliveries are kept sealed in this bag until you reach the customer address.
Keeping the community safe
In line with the Menulog Community Health and Safety guide, if you are unwell and/ or not fit to make deliveries, you should not offer your delivery services. You are able to drop any delivery run in the Courier App or appoint a substitute.
Please refer to the World Health Organisation (WHO) recommendations linked and listed below on what to do if you feel unwell.
If you have been diagnosed with COVID-19, please contact us immediately by emailing [email protected].
Practicing good hygiene
In addition to recommendations from the World Health Organisation (WHO) listed below, health authorities have been clear that it is imperative we all maintain good hygiene. For food couriers, this can include:
- Maintaining a clean vehicle
- Ensuring you regularly clean your delivery gear, including your thermal food bag/s
- Using hand sanitiser and regularly cleaning your mobile device
- Ensuring minimal contact with paper delivery bags and/or items collected
The latest guidance from health authorities
We encourage all restaurant partners to follow guidance from the Australian Government and World Health Organisation (WHO) to help protect yourselves, your staff and customers.
WHO Recommendations
Wash your hands frequently
Regularly and thoroughly clean your hands with an alcohol-based hand rub or wash them with soap and water.
Maintain social distancing
Maintain at least 1 metre (3 feet) distance between yourself and anyone who is coughing or sneezing.
Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth
Hands touch many surfaces and can pick up viruses. Once contaminated, hands can transfer the virus to your eyes, nose or mouth. From there, the virus can enter your body and can make you sick.
Practice respiratory hygiene
Make sure you, and the people around you, follow good respiratory hygiene. This means covering your mouth and nose with your bent elbow or tissue when you cough or sneeze. Then dispose of the used tissue immediately.
If you have fever, cough and difficulty breathing, seek medical care early
Stay home if you feel unwell. If you have a fever, cough and difficulty breathing, seek medical attention and call in advance. Follow the directions of your local health authority.
Stay informed and follow advice given by your healthcare provider
Stay informed on the latest developments about COVID-19. Follow advice given by your healthcare provider, your national and local public health authority or your employer on how to protect yourself and others from COVID-19.
Advice to customers and restaurants
We have provided similar guidance to our customer and restaurant network. All courier partners can be assured that we are taking all necessary steps to ensure the ongoing health and safety of the Menulog community.
