Brazilian food delivery from local restaurants

How could Brazilian food be anything other than exciting? Vibrant, colourful and hearty, it’s a cuisine with an enormous range of global influences. Native Brazilian ingredients, including cassava, guarana and acai, have been exported to the world and touted for their health benefits, while waves of immigrants including the Spanish, Italians, Germans and Swiss have left their European stamp. African cuisine has filtered down throughout Brazil’s northeast, where frequent use is made of ingredients like palm oil and peanuts. Some of the country’s most popular dishes include feijoada, a stew-like preparation of beans, meat and vegetables, acaraje, made from deep-fried black-eyed peas, and a spiced sausage called linguica. But perhaps the best-known Brazilian export (after Pele) is the national drink – coffee.

In Australia Brazilian food is synonymous with churrasco, or grilled meat. This is usually served in churrascarias, where it is brought to the table on long skewers. These are increasingly popular not only for the flavour of the food, but also for the communal atmosphere and the all-you-can-eat deal many churrascarias offer. A new wave of Brazilian restaurants in Australia, however, is proving that there is a much greater depth to the cuisine than barbecued meat.
