Indonesian food delivery from local restaurants

Indonesia is an enormous collection of islands that houses over 300 different ethnic groups. It is no surprise then that the cuisine to result from this island chain is extremely varied and diverse. Indonesian cuisine has become more cohesive as foreign culinary influences are absorbed and communication and movement between islands increases. The ingredient set from Indonesia is a bit more manageable; though many different methods are employed on it, the list of raw foodstuffs available in Indonesia is short. Fishing is important. Poultry are a close second. Beef, buffalo, goat, and mutton also serve as dish proteins. Cloves and nutmeg are harvested locally, but a number of other spices were introduced as the result of international trade. Tropical fruits abound. Rice cultivation spans the 6,000 populated islands. Rice is employed in nearly every meal. It may be an ingredient in sweet or savoury dishes. It is most often eaten as plain rice with the vegetables or protein cooked with varying methods: frying, boiling, grilling, and stir frying are all valid methods in this cuisine. Rice may take on a more focal role in dishes: rice steamed in banana leaves is longtong; nasi uduk is rice cooked in coconut milk; ketaput results from rice cooked in woven coconut frond; but the most popular preparation by far is fried rice or nasi goreng.

Chinese dishes have been wholly incorporated into the cusine. Lumpia (spring rolls), bakmi (noodles), bakso (fish- or meatballs) are as omnipresent as any traditional Indonesian dish. Dutch influence is visible in [predominantly] baked goods like kaastangel (cheese cookies), roti bakar (grilled bread), and klappertaart (coconut tart). Some foods have reached the international stage perhaps not as Indonesian cuisine, but as dishes that are frequently associated with other countries; the chicken satay as "Thai" sticks out as an example. Indonesian food doesn't have to travel far to reach Australian shores. With the exception of portion sizes and a greater emphasis on meats, Indonesian restaurants serve near-identical fare as their homeland counterparts.
