The beef rendang I had the chance to taste recently was a bit of a letdown. The sauce was noticeably thin, missing the thick, creamy texture expected of a good rendang. This not only affected the flavor, making it less intense than desired, but also the beef itself was not as tender as I've come to expect from past experiences. The meat required a bit more effort to chew than the melt-in-your-mouth tenderness that truly sets apart a well-made rendang. In comparison to other rendang dishes I've savored, this one unfortunately didn't quite measure up.
